Three years ago, Maya Shah became a member of HOSA. This year, she is excited to serve as your State President for the 2018-19 year! Maya is grateful that her years in HOSA have given her the opportunity to break out of her shell, network with amazing HOSA members from around the world, and meet a lot of lifelong friends! She is planning on continuing her love of medicine in college by studying how music affects neurological disorders. In her free time, Maya loves to play piano, travel, and eat cake batter ice cream! Maya looks forward to serving and connecting with the Iowa HOSA members!

Four years ago, Jenna became a member of HOSA. Jenna is now serving as your Eastern Region Vice President for the 2018-2019 year. She is a senior at Maquoketa High School. She is involved in Softball, Soccer, FFA, and NHS. Hosa has made a huge impact on her life, and she would like to try and do the same for you as a HOSA state officer. Jenna has not fully decided on her career path for her future, but she is making a decision between joining the Army or the Airforce.

This is Joseph’s second year in the HOSA community. He is very motivated to operate as the Central Vice President. currently, Joe is a senior at West Des Moines Valley High School and also a rad mime. Joe is also involved in Oratory, car mechanics and finance. Joe plans to study Finance and Public Health at The University of Iowa in the fall.

Tucker Center for Career and Technical Education

This is Paytyn’s second year being involved in HOSA and she is very excited to serve as your Western Region Vice President. She is a senior at Abraham Lincoln High School and the President of the Tucker Center HOSA chapter. She is involved in Volleyball, Bowling, NHS, Soccer and HOSA. Paytyn plans to attend Nebraska Methodist College in the fall and study Nursing as well as Healthcare Sign Language.

Linn-Mar High School

This year, Taylor Streff is thrilled to represent Iowa as the State Historian. Taylor is a senior at Linn-Mar High School in Marion. She is happy to be working with you to create a positive experience for all HOSA members. Along with being involved with HOSA at the state and local level, Taylor participates in Model UN, Student Council, Math Team, Softball and Show Choir. She plans to study global health in the future and she wants to be able to share what she learns with future generations. Taylor is looking forward to meeting you all this year!

Rachel is excited to serve as your Iowa HOSA Parliamentarian for the 2018-2019 year. She is a senior at Valley High School. HOSA has provided Rachel with new opportunities in networking as well as a greater understanding of the medical field. She participates in the Des Moines Youth Symphony, NCYL, NHS, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Model UN, and World Cultures Club. Rachel plans to study global public health and medical anthropology in the future. Rachel is looking forward to connecting with her fellow Iowa HOSA members.
